WACO Family Festival, Kites, Bikes & Music

Looking for a family friendly event that promotes physical activity, hands on fun   along with fabulous music this spring? Consider the WACO Festival, 2009 Kites, Bikes &Music Saturday May 16th from 10am -4pm at the WACO Air Museum located at Historic WACO Field in Troy. The WACO Festival 2009 Kites, Bikes &Music is a combination of successful events held at WACO in past years merged and expanded into one event. Parking fee $5.00 per car and includes one fee admission to WACO Air Museum.

WACO Bike Tour 8am-12noon

The Miami County Fun Ride is a one day event that starts and ends at WACO Field.

The event is a partnership with the WACO Historical Society and The Miami County Parks District. Bike tour registration includes admission to the WACO Air Museum.

“Wings On Strings” Family Kite Fly 10am-4pm
This event is sponsored by the Troy Noon Optimist Club and features make and fly kite activities and annual kite contest with prizes awarded in various categories. Participants may use the kites they make at the event or bring their own kites. 

WACO Music Festival 10am-4pm

Musical rhythms fly through the air during this home grown event featuring
local musicians on an outdoor stage venue. Drive, fly or ride in by bicycle 
to join in the second annual WACO Music Festival. Please bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music.

 

Strawberry Festival Park&Ride

June 6 &7 2009

Free parking and shuttle service available to the Strawberry Festival from
Historic WACO Field on Saturday and Sunday. Don't forget to visit the WACO Museum during your visit to Historic WACO Field.
WACO rides have been cancelled for the Strawberry Festival.

WACO Wag–In Dog Fest

September 12,2009 10am-5pm

A fun day of demonstrations by experienced area teams. All Breed Dog Show,
Parade of Breeds, dog tricks and a doggy fashion show.
Canine related non profits and business will set up during the event to educate and entice attendee with dog related products.

2009 WACO Fly-In

September 18 &19 2009

This year’s WACO Homecoming is sure to be a memorable experience for all who attend
and enjoy the WACOS and other vintage airplanes expected for the Fly –In from all parts of the United States.
  WACO pilots will provide WACO rides in their beautiful open cockpit biplanes
September 18 through September 19th . The all you can eat WACO Flying “Chris Cakes” pancake breakfast Saturday Sept.19 from 7-10:30am.is a great way to start the day, then browse the field and museum exhibits and enjoy the “Parade of WACOS” slated for Saturday afternoon.
   The WACO Learning Center will show case their hands on activities including paper airplanes, rockets, helicopters and much more are always favorites for young people of all ages.
Saturday night plan to attend the WACO Banquet & Fundraising Silent Auction for one of a kind aviation treasures.

WACO Barnstormers RC Fly-In /Show

October 3rd 2009

This event is organized by the WACO Barnstormers:

  • RC Flying events and demos
  • Vendors
  • Dry Camping on WACO Field.


“How Santa Gets Around” Transportation Show

November 28-December 27, 2009

This educational family oriented show features 15 different modes of transportation presented in various scales that Santa has used in the past 150 years

Currently the society has several initiatives:

  • WACO Air Museum - a facility located at Historic WACO Field Troy, Ohio, is open to the public; housing documents, photos, literature and model WACOs .

  • Historic WACO Field - a 1920s-styled grass airport located just south of Troy, featuring a restored 1850s barn and a modern aircraft hangar.
     
  • WACO Aviation Learning Center - a diverse schedule of projects and events designed to educate and encourage young people to investigate and get excited about aviation and science.
